The same anxiety came back to haunt me as I entered the premises of Staplehurst Dental Practice recently, the first of several treatments over the coming months.
The difference was that the man in the white coat was not a menacing character out of a Hollywood block buster, but instead a guy who doesn't take his patients for granted. He works hard to put you at ease before undergoing treatment and uses modern technology very effectively which allows you to understand what he's doing and why.
If paying for private dentistry makes people reluctant to find an alternative to their NHS dentist, then I have experienced a true example of 'you get what you pay for'.
