Veneers are one of the fastest ways a cosmetic dentist can make over your smile. At Staplehurst Dental Practice in Kent our highly-qualified cosmetic dental team will work closely with you to create a new smile that is as natural as it is beautiful.

A Hollywood dentist first invented veneers as a fast way to change the appearance of an actor’s smile. These were crude by modern standards and usually fell off quickly because they were held in place with denture adhesive.

Modern veneers are very different. At our Kent practice your practitioner will ensure each veneer looks entirely realistic. A single veneer is sometimes used to improve the appearance of a permanently stained or discoloured tooth when teeth whitening treatment is not an option, while a full set can be used for a complete smile makeover. This all sounds good, but even better, treatment can be complete in just a few appointments.

How it works

Veneers are hand-crafted micro-thin shells of porcelain that a cosmetic dentist places over the front surfaces of your teeth to improve their appearance. As well as disguising permanent staining, they can improve minor spacing and alignment issues, and can be used to cover small cracks or chips in a tooth.

When you come for an initial consultation with a cosmetic dentist at our Kent practice, they will examine your teeth and find out what you want to achieve. Your teeth will then be prepared by removing a very thin amount of enamel to aid with the bonding process, and impressions of your teeth will be taken.

These impressions and any other required information will be sent to a dental ceramicist, who will create your veneers. When they are ready, you will be called back to our Kent practice to have them fitted. These days a special, strong bonding gel is used, ensuring they stay in place.
